Face Exercises Exercising the face is as vital as exercising the body. A tired, sagging or gaunt face does not sit well on a well toned and fit body. A face massage can improve the texture of the skin, increase blood and lymph circulation and softening wrinkles, increase suppleness and elasticity over a period of time, brighten the eyes and generally relax and sooth you. Daily facial exercises can strengthen and tone your facial muscles as well as achieve some of the above. Here are some simple exercise that you can make part of your routine either in the morning when moisturising your face or in the evening before bed. For specific areas Eyes: • For tired eyes, move your eyes in four directions without moving your head – left, right, up and down. Do this clockwise and anti-clockwise • To increase flexibility in the eye muscles and reduce tension: Hold you thump in front of your face, hand width away, move your thump to as far as you can see, breathing in slowing. Bring it down to center, breathing out. Move your thumbnail around in the form of a clock. Do this three times a day with a few hours rest in between. • For droopy eyelids, close your eyes, place your index fingers on your eyelids and try opening your eyes. This helps to strengthen eyelids. Tap eyebrows with finger tips to release tension. Raise eyebrows and open eyes as wide as you can and gently release. Mouth: • For laughter lines, puff up your cheeks, hold for five seconds and release slowly; place fingers on laughter lines, and slowly smile to the count of six and release to the count of six; with slightly open mouth, scrunch your mouth to the left and then to the right; pucker your lips and make 10 air kisses; Do a wide smile with mouth slightly open and hold for ten seconds Jaw line and neck • Tilt your head up and press tongue against the roof of your mouth • Lift chin, stick out your lower lip and turn head slowly from left to right the eyes to the ceiling; with face upwards do open mouthed kisses. • Tilt head up, thrust out lower jaw and lift and lower 20 times. • Gently slap under your chin 20 times. |
